From it's birth, or so some say, Scandinavian Airlines was born to succeed in a very real sense. This can be said because of their humble beginnings, although they didn't begin as humble as many others have over the years. The airlines took shape when small, local airlines with Scandinavia put their forces together along with a Swedish investment partner. The result of this merging of forces brought together assets that empowered the company with extra advantages over competition. They were able to [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] get up and going relatively quickly due in part to the pooled assets of existing airlines, combined with established infrastructures. This beginning was anything but a fluke as you can probably see from it's apparent success.
It [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] came as no surprise when these three Scandinavian countries formed the consortium that became known [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] as SAS. The airline was launched in 1946, just one [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] year after [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] WW 2 ended. The whole world was ready to start afresh after the end of the war and the forming of this alliance was the expected result of this new attitude. One month after the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] founding of this company, in September of 1946, the first flight took place. By the 1950s, and as a result of additional airlines joining and merging with SAS, the SAS consortium was created. After the Consortium was set up, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] each country had these shares: SAS Denmark (28.6%), SAS Norge (28.6%) and SAS Sverige (42.8%). Then they each split their individual share 50/50 between their respective governments and private investors. Brand awareness and marketing [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is a large portion of the success of any airline. Scandinavian Airlines created a tremendous coup in world wide brand awareness during the mid 1950s. A route of air travel flying over the North Pole and ending up on the west coast of the US in Los Angeles California was discovered as they began [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] finding routes to operate in. This route allowed them to take [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] advantage of a huge branding opportunity, coining the "round the world service over the North Pole" phrasing. Tokyo, Japan; Anchorage Alaska, and Copenhagen are among the destinations available on this route.
The current state of affairs for Scandinavian Airlines finds them continuing in the tradition of a global air passenger carrier. Scandinavian Airline's long-distance routes include destinations in both North America and Asia. The two primary hubs for SAS are Stockholm Sweden and Copenhagen Denmark, and it is from these locations that most international traffic is served. SAS International is the division that handles the intercontinental [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] traffic for SAS and employs slightly less than 1,000 people. Scandinavian Airlines International-SAS operates separately from [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the other three divisions - Scandinavia Airlines in Denmark, Scandinavia Airlines in Norway, and Scandinavia Airlines in Sweden. It is hard to imagine the logistics involved in three separate countries actually in control of one company as Scandinavian Airlines is. Since it began, and to this day, this airline continues to operate in the same exact manner. But this approach has given SAS a great deal of diversity which is part of their strength. And finally, this company has been given many business opportunities that keep it financially secure.
