Dancing is one of my many passions. ?> learn to dance!
Have you gone to a musical play or a dance recital as an audience and came out with your heart so excited and your feet so hot to dance? Yes, it?s a calling! And you should answer back!
You were never that excited in your life, and you know you really want to learn to dance! who?s stopping you anyway? Go for it!
Dancing is really a form of art that explores on our kinaesthetic ability to follow steps while having music as a background. When you say dancing, it doesn?t only involve your feet, but your whole body in synchrony! I believe you would agree that becoming a dancer might come natural to you, but casual dancing is far from professional dancing. Having the passion for it though, could be a very good start for you!
If you started dancing during your elementary years, you could probably have the basic skills at least, moving up to high school where the dances are getting tougher you have to be able to catch up to the pace. If you are in your collegiate years, and have been dancing for more than 10 years, though still without a formal training, you can start getting yourself into one. Actually, you don?t have to wait till your college to do so. This is because some dance training like ballet which is usually a basic training all professional dancers have, is best learned when your bones are still strong, very flexible and still in its process of ?growing.?
Usually after high school, some universities and colleges are already offering dance scholarships for those who want to really make a career in dancing. You can get into one of this and master [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] your chosen area of arts. Yes, you have to do it now! And not when you feel like it. Sometimes mood gets in the way, or at times fear of being able to withstand the challenges ahead but your passion will get you through! If at any point you find it within you that dancing is the career that you want to pursue then make the essential steps towards that goal earlier in your life. Dance profession is a very competitive field; there are so many talented and skilled individuals who can be better than you are. Your desire to learn to dance and your passion in dancing should make all the difference!
Build [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] up that level of curiosity on what more can you learn in dancing and what training can you still go through! Push yourself and see your potential. How can you expand your horizon in dancing?
Start attending dance performances or dance recitals. This could expose you to new dance moves and techniques which you are not familiar yet. You can watch on tv, movies, read on newspapers, magazines or online.
If you are already part of a dance class, try attending other classes with a new teacher. This would help you learn different disciplines in dancing. Try being versatile in this field, learn all the kinds of dances there are! If you want to better your flexibility and strength, you can even join a yoga class and martial arts class. You have to remember dancing might be fun, but it is strenuous, so make sure your physically fit before [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] going through all these, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] you might be having trouble already with your health and still not [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] know it.
You can also join dance performances, it is always different to dance in front of a crowd and showcase your talent. The pressure is bigger and the experience is greater!
And if dancing is really your passion, you would definitely enjoy summer programs offered [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] by your school, in your neighbourhood or out of town! Take your pick!
The more you engage in [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] all these activities, the more you understand what dancing is all about and unfold your untapped potential in dancing.
Now let?s talk about your career, what you can do to get your journey started.
Pursuing your career in dancing is tougher than getting through in a dance recital or a major performance, your dancing career will pretty much speak of your profit as a dancer. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
There are different types of profession in dancing. You can be an independent modern dance [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] artist, have performances all over the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] world, or you can be a dancer in a very famous ballet company with a year round contract, or you can be a choreographer in a dance show or a dance school.
Your [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] skill and talent in dancing can be manifested in so many ways, some dancers are good in dancing alone and some are good in sharing their skills and talents. Whatever career you choose, you have to understand how the industry works around it. Dancing is not like any other career that you just have to go to work, log in and join your computer. Like many other professions, it is about a lifetime of learning and understanding of its nature as it continuously evolves.
You will probably ask me, ?What if I am already old and cannot use my dancing shoes anymore?? Well, there is such a thing [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] called Dancer Transition Resource Center (DTRC), an organization who assists dancers with retraining within and outside of the dance profession. Let?s face it; every profession has its end when our age comes in. But dancing can serve as a therapy for you when your age kicks in.
Give in to the beat and learn to dance!
